Rapid City Medical Center is pleased to welcome Oksana Anand, MD to its Gastroenterology Department. Dr. Anand’s interests include celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, infertility caused by celiac disease, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, thyroid health and its influence on gut motility, nutritional approaches to the treatment of digestive disorders and colorectal cancer screening in women. She is especially passionate about women’s digestive health. Dr. Anand is now accepting new patient referrals at Rapid City Medical Center and scheduling patients for procedures at The Endoscopy Center and Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Dr. Anand is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. She earned her medical degree from the oldest medical school in Russia, Omsk State Medical Academy, graduating with highest distinction. She continued training with an internship in general surgery, followed by a fellowship in gastrointestinal endoscopy. She worked for three years as an attending physician prior to immigrating to the United States in 2002 to further her professional career.
After immigrating to the United States, Dr. Anand completed a fellowship in general gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition and a residency in internal medicine at the University of Kansas Hospital.
“I became fascinated with gastrointestinal endoscopy as a fourth year medical student. I think gastroenterology is a specialty with the perfect blend of intellectual stimulation and procedural skills,” Dr. Anand says.
Dr. Anand, her husband and two children recently moved to Rapid City from Fargo, North Dakota where she practiced gastroenterology at the Sanford Health Medical Center.
